Dance drama

The 'betyárs' (highwaymen) were characteristic figures in Hungarian folk tradition: ballads, folk songs and rhymes preserve the memory of these famous individuals, but images of rogues are also popular in material folk art. Many of these rogues have been preserved in the national consciousness as idealised heroes.
This is how the sometimes hugely romantic stories of the Hungarian Robin Hoods, the legendary rogues Jóska Sobri, Imre Bogár, Márton Vidróczky, Bandi Angyal and, most famously, Rózsa Sándor, were born. These often fairy tale-like, amusing and sometimes shocking adventures were adapted for the stage by Zsuzsa Zs. Vincze from an idea by Zoltán Zsuráfszky. The piece will be performed by the outstanding dancers of the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble in collaboration with the actor Ádám Schnell. During the show, the original folk music collections of András Berecz will also be heard.
This performance featuring the most famous Hungarian rogues is entertaining, occasionally thought-provoking and visually impressive. Its bright colours will take the audience back in time and enchant them with the richness of Hungarian folk art, music and culture.
