Midori and the Munich Chamber Orchestra
Ticket prices
There are some child prodigies we only encounter early in their careers, before they vanish into obscurity. We already had the chance to applaud the Japanese-American Midori at the age of 14, when she performed on Leonard Bernstein's Journey for Peace tour at the Budapest Sports Hall in 1985.
The programme strikes a delicate balance between Baroque music - with three works by Johann Sebastian Bach - and the restrained emotions and poised Romanticism in the works of Edvard Grieg and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. The two Bach violin concertos to be heard in the first and second half of the concert, the darker-toned D minor and joyful and energetic E major, not only give Midori the opportunity to show two different sides of her personality, but also to direct our attention to the clarity of her playing within the framework of Bach's wise and concise idiom.
