A production of The Icelandic Opera

Based on Susanne Bier's film of the same title.
Michael and Peter go off to war. Michael bids farewell to his wife, Sarah, and daughter, Nadia. Peter does the same to his pregnant wife, Anna. Their helicopter is shot down, and Michael and Peter are believed to be dead. When, after a long interval, Michael returns home safe and sound, the tension increases as family secrets rise to the surface. There is no respite, however, and the real drama really only starts with Michael's confession. Profound and grave moral questions emerge: is there any limit to one's attachment to life? Can a murder committed in self-defence be forgiven?
The internationally renowned director Kasper Holten is the originator of his own unique 'northern style' opera aesthetic, making this performance an unmissable one for opera fans in search of rarities.
The opera's world première took place in August 2017 in the Aarhus Concert Hall, as part of the event series marking the city's year as a European Capital of Culture.

Performance in English with Hungarian surtitles.

Presented by: Armel Opera Festival - Armel Nonprofit Kft.
