Pianist Mihály Berecz has for years been interested in performing the 18th and 19th century repertoire on fortepiano. "György Vashegyi and Malcolm Bilson encouraged me to explore the question, and I have already had the opportunity to play Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann and Haydn on the fortepiano. Though it's difficult to find access to these instruments, and they require a technique that is different from that of the modern piano, if I could have my way, I would make it compulsory for everyone,” said the young artist recently.
His collaboration with György Vashegyi and his ensembles is well established. They frequently perform Mozart's piano concertos together, and the concerts whose programmes included several Mozart concertos were particularly memorable. The genre will now be exemplified by one of the most special and mysterious piece in the oeuvre, the E-flat major piano concerto, which was written during the Salzburg period. No less exciting is the composition played in the second half of the concert: the Mass in C minor is a unique piece of church music.

We would like to draw the attention of our audience to that the current pandemic regulations may also affect the online program of the Bartók Spring International Arts Weeks, the program and the dates of the events may change.
