"This young musician also shows a musical naturalness, technical mastery and dazzling feeling, as well as a strong presence on stage, to reveal an outstanding personality.” "A great master of the small facets.” "The next Chick Corea.” "A talent of the century, simply unbelievable.” These are the words critics and music professionals have used to describe the Luxembourgian percussionist.

So young - and yet he has already achieved and done so much! Although officially designated a marimba player, Christoph Sietzen is nevertheless a percussionist to the core, handling a wide array of instruments with virtuosic skill. Still only 23 years old, he was 12 when he made his début at the Salzburg Festival. By the age of 22, he was teaching marimba and percussion as a lecturer at Vienna's Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst. He was also a prize winner at the internationally prestigious ARD music competition. Together with Bogdan Bacanu, Emiko Uchiyama and Vladimir Petrov, he plays in the - as their names indicate - thoroughly international line-up of The Wave Quartet, and his chamber partners will also be joining in on a few numbers at this Rising Stars concert at Müpa Budapest.
After all this, anyone who still uncertain about coming out to Sietzen's concert should go to this extraordinary soloist's website and listen to (and watch) the astonishing musical fireworks he produces before our eyes as he plays Israeli composer Avner Dorman's Frozen in Time. Those familiar with this recording will surely be there in the Festival Theatre to witness Christoph Sietzen make his Hungarian début with this extraordinarily exciting and diverse programme.

Nominated for the Rising Stars programme by: Philharmonie Luxembourg

In Festival Square after the concert, visitors will be able to participate in a meet and greet moderated by Endre Tóth, where they can chat with the artists appearing in the concert and request autographs.
