Müpa Winter Open Air

Ice – Music – Experience

In every respect.

We’re also making preparations for the holiday magic this year: the Müpa Winter Open Air will open its doors for the third time on 2nd December. You can again slide with abandon on our huge ice-skating rink, and visit the Müpa Tent, where exciting and unforgettable events will unfold. Come and join us for another festive celebration!

Ice rink

2 December 2018 – 29 January 2019

This winter cannot go by without ice skating! We will again await our visitors with a nearly 350-square-metre ice rink, where up to 80 people can have some icy fun together with the  Müpa Radio Easy and Symphony channel playing in the background.
Should you get tired from all the skating, you can recharge yourself with real winter delicacies such as mulled wine and hot chocolate, in the heated canteen next to the ice rink.

Müpa Tent

2 December 2018 – 31 December 2018

As well as exciting cultural programmes this year, the Müpa Tent allures you with jaw-dropping contemporary circus performances to popular music concerts. On 8th December, the internationally acclaimed Recirquel Contemporary Circus Company will premiere its brand new, winter-time contemporary circus tale here, the sparkly, frozen “Crystal”, full of spectacular illusions and stunts. The audience can see the performance a total of 16 times throughout December. During the production, the acrobats slide in the air right above our heads, often an arm’s reach away, and as in previous years, they are accompanied on stage by international and Hungarian guest performers, including Hungary’s most outstanding hip-hop dancers.

The Hungarian queens of jazz and pop, Nikoletta Szőke and Gigi Radics will give their first ever concert together, while Cimbaliband, known for their Eastern European cimbalom rock’n’roll, will rock the stage with Dóra Danics. We can expect a similarly explosive experience at the concert of Besh o Drom, who combine Eastern European, Balkan and Middle Eastern folk tunes with Hungarian folk music.

Children will love the performance of Kolompos, where they can learn about the most exciting festive traditions in a playful way. Éva Korpás will bring us her new world music album for children titled “Libidaridom”; Firkin arrives with a family-friendly rock matinee, and the Bahorka Company will plant Christmas sentiments in our hearts with their “A Tale for Winter”. The number one Hungarian pop a cappella band, Fool Moon, will visit us as well, and swing fans will be able to enjoy the concert of Group’n’Swing, while Andrea Malek will guide us into the world of gospel accompanied by a fantastic jazz band.
