Bridging Europe 2018

The Baltics and Poland in focus

Last year Spain was in the lead, and this year the diverse program of the European Bridges is built around the Baltics - i.e. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania – and Poland. This is the 6th time when the joint series of events by the Budapest Festival Orchestra and the Palace of Arts is selecting arts from countries with exciting cultural values.
Naturally, a lot of genres are represented this September as well, from the classical music through the world music, up to literature and folk art. This time, for example, the celebrated Polish pianist, Piotr Anderszewski introduces a different side of him: accompanied by the recognized band of his hometown, the Sinfonia Varsovia, he promotes the values of Polish and Baltic music from the 20th century, moreover, he will flatter the audience with a rare Hungarian piece as well. One of the most played contemporary composers, the Estonian Arvo Pärt will be played as well, and you may see an exhibition about his eventful, rich life in the Atrium. The fans of popular music will enjoy the joint concert of the Latvian Sus Dungo, also called the fairies of indie pop, and the Lithuanian Golden Parazyth, who perform in the company of world-famous stars. The lovers of literature will get a real treat: the evening built on the pieces of one among the most famous Polish authors, Witold Gombrowicz, is also an unforgettable experience.
