Müpa Budapest again opened its doors, with increased care for the safety of the viewers and artists

We are pleased to inform you, our dear viewers, that Müpa Budapest's 2020/21 season opened on 28 August with the New Orleans Swing Festival. After five months, our institution has reopened in a process preceded by careful preparations, as the safety of our viewers and artists is paramount for us.

In order for our visitors to enjoy the performances in maximum safety and free from worry, we have introduced special health safety measures designed along the lines of recommendations from health care professionals, our own research on the subject, as well as the well-functioning practices of our Hungarian and international partner institutions. During the daytime, Müpa Budapest will not be open to visitors – with the exception of those visiting the Ludwig Museum. The building will open to the general public an hour and a half before the start of a concert, and close one hour after the end of the performance.

Visitors may only enter the Müpa Budapest building after they have been tested for signs of fever: we will be checking the body temperature of people entering the building with a hand-held thermometer at the entrance. In addition, we are paying extra attention to keeping the building clean, with special regard to disinfecting the toilets, countertops, door handles and other surfaces and ventilating the auditoriums, with protection enhanced through the use of non-contact disinfectant dispensers.

It is mandatory to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth everywhere inside the Müpa Budapest building – including the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall and the Festival Theatre – and to maintain a distance of 1.5 metres from other people while waiting in a queue. In the event that the safety measures happen to slow the process of admitting visitors into the building, the performance will only begin after audience members waiting in the queue to enter have taken their seats. At the same time, we ask our visitors to arrive earlier for events than they were accustomed to in the past.

If you notice flu-like symptoms, or suspect that you might be infected by the virus, please do not visit Müpa Budapest. Instead, in order to recover as quickly as possible, please stay at home and give your ticket or season ticket to someone else. If it is not possible to do so, or if you prefer not to go out in public, you can return your tickets on the online interface already set up for this purpose and request refunds for the price of subscription performances by clicking here. In the case of cancelled performances, you have 30 days from the originally scheduled date to request a refund.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Müpa Budapest!
