Via Soroksári út from Boráros tér:

To avoid delays at the traffic lights, we recommend turning right into the service road (Lechner Ödön fasor) running parallel to Soroksári út as soon as possible at Boráros tér. It is also possible to join the service road further along at Vágóhíd utca. The Müpa Budapest underground car park can be accessed by driving around to the left of the building.

Via Soroksári út from Soroksár:

Turning left at the Vágóhíd utca junction is prohibited, so motorists must turn right onto Vágóhíd utca and loop around to cross Soroksári út before turning left onto Laczkovich utca to enter the Müpa Budapest underground car park.

Via Könyves Kálmán körút from Népliget:

Turn right onto Mester utca at the Lurdy House shopping mall, then turn left at Vágóhíd utca. Continue straight ahead at the junction, crossing Soroksári út before turning left onto Laczkovich utca to access the Müpa Budapest underground car park.

Via Rákóczi Bridge from Buda:

After turning right at the end of the bridge, take the left lane and follow the signs to “Centrum” before immediately turning right onto Vágóhíd utca. Loop around to cross Soroksári út and turn left into Laczkovich utca to access the Müpa Budapest underground car park.

Parking at Müpa Budapest

 

I. FREE PARKING

Müpa Budapest provides complementary parking for visitors with paid tickets to any of our public performances on the day of the performance.
Free parking in this case is available for a single entry and lasts until Müpa Budapest closes.

Parking is available for our visitors in two locations: the underground garage and the outdoor parking lot.
 

1. The Underground garage

The underground garage is available for guests of Müpa Budapest every day during normal building operating hours. Visitors arriving to one of our paid events can enter the garage without obtaining a parking ticket; other guests have to get a parking ticket from the terminal upon entry.
 

A. Entry without a parking ticket using a performance ticket on the performance day

•    If you have the performance ticket for the day at hand when entering the garage, you do not have to get a parking ticket – simply hold the barcode of the ticket to the barcode reader. (The system reads the barcode/QR code of tickets either bought at our box offices or printed at home or presented on the screen of your smartphone and opens the gate.) We ask that you bring a printed ticket with you.

For those with e-tickets, please note that portable devices that exceed 90mm x 120mm x 30mm may not be suitable for e-ticket scanning at the gates. For easy scanning and smooth entry, please pinch zoom the e-ticket on your device (optimal QR code size is 3 cm x 3 cm) and hold your device’s screen to the scanner. 

Should the size of your portable device exceed the above dimensions, please bring a printed copy of your e-ticket for guaranteed admission. 

By scanning your ticket, you pay for your parking when you enter the garage, and therefore you may leave at any time  without further payment (as long as the building is open).

If your e-ticket is recognised and accepted, but the parking garage gates won’t open, please get a parking ticket from the machine at the gates. Later, you can validate your parking ticket by showing your valid e-ticket at the counter. For further information see “Entry with parking ticket”.

When leaving the garage, the system reads the number plate of your vehicle, verifies that you have paid for your parking and opens the gate.

Important: Please retain your performance ticket until you exit the garage.

B. Entry with a parking ticket and a performance ticket on the performance day

•    If your performance ticket is not at hand when you enter the underground garage, or the system does not open the gate after reading the barcode of your ticket, please take a parking ticket from the ticket machine. 
•    You can validate your parking ticket later – and thus annul any parking fee with your performance ticket to a paid public event for that day. Please do not leave your parking ticket in your vehicle so you may validate it at one of the parking terminals.

C. Entry with prior registration for the Platinum parking spaces

Those patrons who have reached the Platinum level of the Müpa+ loyalty programme  may continue to register for the Platinum parking spaces, located in the underground garage, on the Müpa homepage. Registration is possible on the concert page until 11:59 pm on the day before the concert. The gates of the garage will automatically open upon approaching the entrance and exit terminals after license plate recognition. 

 

D. Using Mastercard parking spaces with prior registration

This service may only be used by holders of personal Mastercard World Elite or Mastercard Corporate and Business Premium cards issued by a Hungarian bank or financial institution, and subject to the availability of the parking spaces reserved for Mastercard Premium Parking, which are located on level -1 of the Müpa Budapest underground garage. Holders of any of the cards listed above with a ticket for that day’s performance are entitled to use these spaces. In order to take advantage of the service, register in advance on the mupa.hu website, entering the vehicle’s licence plate number. The registration period opens 29 days before the date of the performance. You can change a previously submitted licence plate number up until no later than 24 hours before the start of the performance. The gate system will automatically read the licence plate number and open to allow the vehicle to enter/exit.

 

Validation of parking tickets for free parking 

Our visitors can themselves validate their parking tickets at the parking terminals located on every level of the underground garage; alternatively, if you pick up or happen to buy your tickets for a performance after entering the garage, our colleagues at the ticket offices will be more than happy to help you with the validation of your parking ticket at the time of the purchase.

Parking ticket machines are available at the following locations:
•    in the underground garage – at the posted signs,
•    at the ticket offices.

How to use the parking terminals:
•    hold the barcode of the parking ticket to the barcode reader,
•    when prompted, hold the barcode/QR code of your performance ticket to the barcode reader,
•    the system informs you that your parking fee has been validated, and you may leave the garage with your vehicle.

You can validate your parking ticket
•    before the start of the performance,
•    during the intermission, or even
•    after the performance.

When leaving the garage, the system reads the number plate of your vehicle, verifies that your parking has been validated and opens the gate. 

After validating your ticket, you may leave the underground garage at any time until the building closes.

Important: Do not forget to validate your parking ticket before attempting to leave the garage as you cannot do so at the gate.

If you fail to leave the underground garage with your vehicle before the building closes, you will be charged the standard hourly rate of 400 HUF. You can pay this fee at of the underground parking terminals before leaving the garage. For more information please refer to the section “Parking for a fee”.

2. Outdoor parking lot

Visitors to Müpa Budapest’s productions are only entitled to use Müpa Budapest’s open-air car park in the event that the underground garage is full. 

Upon entry, you may park in any of the free spots. Your performance ticket will be checked after the programme, when exiting the parking lot, therefore please retain your ticket to the programme you attended, since you will be asked to produce it to the lot attendant. 

If you do not have a ticket to a Müpa Budapest performance for the day of your parking, you will be charged a parking flat rate fee of 500 HUF/automobile. For more information please refer to the section “Parking for a fee ”.

Important: Please retain your performance ticket after the programme and keep it at hand to ensure your free of chage parking. 

The outdoor parking lot, when opened, operates until the building closes, and is locked down afterwards. If you wish to leave the parking lot with your vehicle when the lot is closed, you will be charged an extra after hours operation surcharge. For more information please refer to section “Parking for a fee”.

II. PARKING FOR A FEE

When is parking subject to a fee?

Parking in the underground garage or the outdoor parking lot of Müpa Budapest is subject to a fee if
•    you do not have a valid ticket to one of our paid and public performances on the day of your parking,
•    you come to Müpa Budapest for a free of charge and/or private (not publicly accessible) programme and you have not received any information about free parking from the organiser of that event.

Please note that tickets to the exhibitions of Ludwig Museum do not grant free parking.

1. Underground garage

The parking fee in the underground garage of Müpa Budapest is 400 HUF/hour. In order to facilitate more comfortable visits to Müpa Budapest, the first 30 minutes of parking is free of charge. This time period is extended to 3 hours for disabled visitors if they can produce an official permit. These visitors are requested to produce their picture ID card and disabled parking permit to the garage attendant at the attendant booth located on level -1 of the garage.

Parking fee may be paid at any of the parking terminals in cash or with bank card (also with paypass).

After making payment, you have 30 minutes to exit the garage.

Important: Do not forget to pay for your parking ticket before attempting to leave, as you cannot do so at the gate.

 

If you lose your parking ticket but you have a ticket for a paid public performance of Müpa Budapest for the day of your parking, you will not be charged for parking for that day. If you lose your parking ticket and cannot produce a valid performance ticket, you are required to pay a surcharge fee of 10 000 HUF/day (a “day” being a 24-hour period that starts at 0:00). Exiting the garage when the buliding is closed shall be subject to an extra after-hours operation surcharge of 3000 HUF, please call +36 1 555 3131.

2. Outdoor parking lot

Visitors to Müpa Budapest’s productions are only entitled to use Müpa Budapest’s open-air car park in the event that the underground garage is full.

If you wish to leave the parking lot with your vehicle after the lot has been closed down, please call +36 1 555 3131. Exiting the outdoor parking lot when the buliding is closed is subject to an extra after-hours operation surcharge of 3000 HUF. The parking surcharge can be paid in cash or via bank card (including by PayPass) to the parking attendant stationed on the -1 level of Müpa Budapest’s underground garage.

Müpa Budapest is barrier-free for visitors with wheelchairs, strollers or guide dogs, those with mobility impairments or cognitive disorders, as well as for the elderly. Access to the venue from outside is barrier-free, and there is a public transportation stop within 100 metres of the building. The main entrance is also the barrier-free entrance, with the difference in level bridged by both stairs and ramps. The front door is a revolving door. The information desk is easily accessible, and no induction loop is available. The halls and the cloakroom offer barrier-free acces, and several of the restroom facilities are also barrier-free.
